Our dresses on Channel 4's This Old Thing

Dawn O'Porter is presenting a fantastic new series on vintage fashion and we're delighted that some of our dresses feature in the programme. The show's producers contacted Juno Says Hello last year to ask us to get involved, and you can see a selection of our dresses on both Dawn and the girls who take part in the makeovers.

Perhaps one of the most striking dresses is the one worn by Dawn in the opening credits: a sweeping 1960s black and white caped gown. The same design was worn by Julianne Moore in A Single Man. To find out more about the history of this incredible gown, click here. To view in our online boutique, click here.

Look out for this beautiful 1960s silk dress in one of the makeovers. When I sourced this dress there were bold geometric prints all over the runways, including Richard Nicoll and Jonathan Saunders. I wanted to track down original examples of these 'stained-glass window' patterns.

We have several frocks like this in stock - click here to see a selection online. We have many more dresses in our Ladbroke Grove showroom and customers are welcome to make an appointment to come and try on before purchase.

This Old Thing also shows viewers how to upcycle unloved garments hanging in the wardrobe. If you don't own a sewing machine, there are many fantastic seamstresses out there who can transform your clothes. I have written about seamstresses before on my blog for How To Spend It - you can read the full article here - and I also recommend London-based Carmen's Tailoring Studio. I have been using her for years because she is affordable and her alterations are flawless.

We have had some wonderful press from This Old Thing - including two great mentions in The Telegraph and The Guardian. There is also a book to accompany the series, a beautifully illustrated style guide featuring several of our dresses. Thank you Dawn... looking forward to tonight's show!
