Celebrities in Vintage: Kristin Davis

We've posted about Kate Moss, Eva Mendes and their love of vintage fashion. Next up: Sex and The City alumna Kristin Davis. Kristin regularly wears vintage gowns to red carpet events and has a great relationship with Los Angeles boutique Decades Inc, who supply her with beautiful dresses.

Brunettes look so beautiful in forest green. Here Kristin wears a 1956 Christian Dior silk faille dress to an event at Kensington Palace.

She looks so beautiful and demure in this 1950s ensemble, but often chooses dresses from the 1960s for a more high-octane effect. Kristin wore this stunning 1960s Norman Norell gold paillette dress to the London premiere of the SATC movie:

We sold a similar dress last year:

If you are looking for a particular style of vintage dress, please get in touch and let us know. We have hundreds of beautiful cocktail dresses in our stockroom for sale and rental.

Celebrities in vintage: Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes has one of the most alluring faces in Hollywood. Although she has her pick of designer clothes she is often spotted in vintage dresses, both on and off the red carpet.

Eva wears vintage day dresses as well as formal evening gowns:

1950s rose print dress

1960s brocade shift

1980s polka dots

1960s sequin dress

1970s maxi dress

1970s coral frock with lace trim

1950s Lancetti dress

Her sultry looks are strongly reminiscent of another Latin beauty - Sophia Loren. Fashion editors have played up to this similarity in several magazine shoots...

The contemporary designs Eva wears are usually very retro-inspired:

Valentino

1970s-style gown by Stella McCartney

1950s-style prom dress by Monique Lhuillier

1940s-inspired tailoring in Dior

Her style is very Old Hollywood - even down to the accessories:

Eva's look really reminds of this photo of actress Valerie Hobson:

1960s chignon (also a favourite with Carrie Bradshaw)

The actress recently partnered with New York & Company to create a fashion line, which will be called Eva by Eva Mendes. The line will be rolled out across 519 US stores later this year.

One of my favourite Eva clips is from The Other Guys - not a great movie but it has its moments - including this scene where she wears a very cute 50s-style day dress:

If you like Eva's casual look we have a beautiful selection of vintage floral prints in stock. To view in our online boutique please click here. Next celebrity fan: Kristin Davis. Stay tuned..

Celebrities in Vintage: Kate Moss

Kate Moss was one of the first style icons to wear a lot of vintage clothing. She has the pick of every designer collection yet when she needs to wear something exceptional she usually chooses vintage.

For her 30th birthday party in 2004, Kate wore a vintage midnight-blue sequin dress that was originally worn by Britt Ekland to the premiere of Bond movie The Man With The Golden Gun.

For a similar look, we have an original 1930s bottle-green velvet gown, embellished with matte gold sequins and with matching cape. To view in our online boutique click here

The lemon yellow dress she wore in New York in 2003 inspired a thousand high-street copies.

If you like this look, we have something similar currently in stock. Click here to view online

In 2007 Kate attended the opening night of The Golden Age of Couture exhibition at the V&A wearing a vintage evening gown by Christian Dior:

The following year she wore a stunning vintage shawl over her Chanel couture dress for Leah Wood's wedding to Jack MacDonald:

The bride also wore vintage:

To read our blog on wearing vintage for your wedding please click here. In 2009 Kate attended Ben Caring's wedding to Elle Perfect wearing a stunning vintage gown with sheer sleeves and embroidered leaf pattern:

I love this photo of her cutting a rug with David Walliams - you can really see how the dress moves:

In 2010 Kate wore this slinky lime green 1970s gown with a vintage fur coat and platform sandals. Disco-style make-up completed the look:

To celebrate an exhibition of photographs by Corinne Day (right) at the National Portrait Gallery in 2007, Kate wore a vintage black sequin cocktail dress:

For her own wedding rehearsal dinner last year, Kate wore a blue vintage dress with Tabitha Simmons boots:

Earlier this year Kate wore a vintage embroidered tunic to the Fashion For Relief party during the Olympics:

For a similar look, we have an original 1970s embroidered tunic with sheer sleeves. Click here to view in our online boutique.

Earlier this month, Kate was spotted in St Barts on a fashion shoot with photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The vintage kaftan from WilliamVintage and the Bardot-style hair are quintessential Kate:

In 2007 she launched her first collection for Topshop, featuring vintage-inspired dresses and accessories. The 1970s-style red dress Kate wore to promote the collaboration sold out in minutes:

She favours a retro look when wearing contemporary designer clothing - this sorbet-shade dress with batwing sleeves is from Louis Vuitton's S/S14 line:

In 2009 the supermodel added to her fragrance line with a new scent -'Vintage' -  inspired by her love of vintage clothes.

Nothing makes a statement like an exquisite vintage dress. The next profile will be on Nicole Richie - a woman who loves vintage style so much she created her own retro jewellery line, House of Harlow 1960.

Two beautiful actresses in Juno Says Hello

Actress Annabel Scholey is playing Lady Anne opposite Kevin Spacey in the Sam Mendes production of Richard III at the Old Vic. For Press Night she picked out a 1930s crimson evening gown from our boutique. Annabel looked absolutely stunning - here she is with Kevin Spacey at the Savoy Hotel in London:

Annabel was accompanied by actress Maimie McCoy - a good friend of Juno Says Hello and pâtissière extraordinaire.

Maimie - also known as Mary - set up Mary's Tea Parties, specialising in elegant afternoon teas; the perfect way to celebrate any occasion, from birthdays to baby showers, to hen parties. Each party is made entirely the way you want it. She will suggest a selection from her carefully prepared menus with delights such as raspberry “fantasy” cake, or delicate lavender shortbread stacks, and together you can create a wonderfully bespoke party. Everything is handmade by Mary in her little kitchen and is delivered to your home, served by professional Afternoon Tea waiting staff, and then cleared up and whisked away, leaving you to play host and delight in cakes.

Mary surrounded by her delicious confections

Mary has supplied delicious treats for several Juno Says Hello late-night sales... the cakes and tarts are so irresistible they are in danger of outshining the dresses! We've had miniature Bakewell tarts, passion-fruit meringues, ice-cream cone cupcakes... all absolutely mouthwatering.

Mary picked out our stunning Scarpetta dress to wear to the Press Night with Annabel. Doesn't she look amazing?!

The chevron-pleated fabric is a black silk-cotton mix and the dress comes with matching belt. Click here to view the dress online.

We're doing another studio sale this afternoon and Mary is about to drop off another tray of delicious goodies... it's very difficult to resist eating all of them before the customers arrive!

If you would like to come along to our next event and sample her cakes for yourself, please get in touch via this link and let us know.
